BTP's New Training Centre at Rome Street, Carlisle
Since our last post there has been a lot of progress on the new training centre in Carlisle.
The services have all been installed and the cladding on the exterior of the building is complete. The joiners have been busy on the interior of the building, of course safety is paramount so we have installed air bags as a fall protection system.
The next major step will be the installation of the windows which should be any day now. For regular updates on the progress of the build as well as other news please follow us on Facebook. Search for BTP Cumbria.

Burlington Stone NVQ Presentation February 2019
BTP's Keith Dymond and Cheryl Dove attended a presentation at Burlington Slate Ltd on Monday 25th February 2019. The presentation was for their employees who have successfully completed NVQ's in Plant Operations funded by the Edge Project. Certificates were presented by Managing Director Mike Faughy, who praised the efforts of all the individuals involved.
Ian Kelly, Quarries Manager: "It was a pleasure showing you around and I find it fabulous to see lads that work hard in challenging conditions getting some recognition for their skills, effort and overall input to what we do".
We are continuing to deliver plant NVQ's and a group of supervisors are currently taking part in a supervisor up-skilling programme. These projects are funded by the European Social Fund, co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency and commissioned by Cumbria LEP.
